Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia

The Center has always placed great importance on programs for the younger members of the community - classes and activities in the visual and performing arts. Young creative spirits need to be nurtured in the notion that creativity is not a secondary part of a well rounded life but an essential element at its very core.

Check out the activities listed below and sign up by calling the center at 706-878-3300.

logo Sautee Stars will produce the musicalMary Poppins, JR. this Fall

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins, JR. is based on one of the most popular Disney movies all time! The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep.

Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, JRDirector Jessi Reed

Sautee Stars, our after-school children's theatre class, presents Once on This Island, JR, written by Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty. With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, Once on This Island JR is a highly original theatrical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, and the Tony-nominated Broadway musical by the legendary writing team, Ahrens and Flaherty.

Through almost non-stop song and dance, this full-hearted musical tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island, guide Ti Moune on a quest that will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and even death.
