WATERCOLOR BATIK WORKSHOP
WATERCOLOR BATIK WORKSHOPInstructor Gail Watson
Watercolor Batik is the process of using hot wax as a resist. If you have ever used masking fluid, the wax is used for the same purpose to preserve the painting layers. We'll work from light to dark, preserving each layer with wax. At the end of the process, the entire painting will have a layer of wax and you will iron off the wax between newspapers to reveal the finished product.
Supplies Instructor provides: the electric skillets with the paraffin wax, brushes for waxing, Giniwashi rice paper, iron and newspaper.
Supplies Student provides: watercolor palette with your favorite colors, watercolor brushes, water bucket, permanent ink marker size .05 (Pigma and Staedtler are good choices), paper towels, blow dryer, wax paper and freezer paper (both of the papers can be shared with classmates).Dates: Saturday, Mar 10Time: 10am to 4:00pm (Bring a snack / lunch)Place: SNC Art StudioCost: $75ClassMinimum: 6ClassMaximum: 10RegistrationDeadline: Wed., Mar 7 at 5:00pm
INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR CLASS
INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR CLASSInstructor Becky Peebles
Starting with loose washes and progressing to details, you will learn Becky's technique which could be described as realism with a dash of Impressionism (or soul!). These weekly 3 hour lessons are designed for the intermediate painter.
Every other session begins with Becky demonstrating a particular technique, leading the class step by step. After this warm-up, the class will move on to individual work. Each demo is independent of the one before and after... you are never behind, even if you miss a class. The sessions in which there is no demo are to allow students to develop individual style with hands-on guidance.
There is no advance registration... these are ongoing classes.Dates: every WednesdayTime: 1:00 till 4:00pmPlace: Center Art StudioCost: $35 per sessionRegistrationDeadline: On-going
